In tap we learn and create steps that turn our shoes into instruments! Our tap classes are based on classical tap techniques, and base a large importance on rhythm and musicality. In this class the children gain a basic foundation of dance skills and learn to turn basic steps in choreography.
Dress Code: We do require our DanceAmerica dancers to abide by our dress code. Dress codes are important for many reasons. By having our dancers dress the part, the children will feel more like dancers! Dress codes also instill teamwork and help to maintain focus and energy. With the exception of Hip Hop and Movin’ and Groovin’, all dance classes will wear pink footless or convertible tights and black leotards. Dance shoes may range from pink ballet shoes (not slippers), black tap shoes, black jazz shoes or regular tennis shoes. ALL dancers must wear ballet shoes or gymnastics shoes in the gymnastics portion of their class. Children may wear a detachable tutu of their choice in conjunction with their black leotard and tights. For Hip-Hop we ask that the dancers wear comfortable modest clothing that allows them to move freely and easily, as well as either ballet shoes or gymnastics shoes in the gym. For Movin’ and Groovin’ we ask that the dancers wear comfortable modest clothing that allows them to move freely and easily, as well as ballet shoes (not slippers).
